Sculptor Information

Born in 1940 in Guruve, of the Kore-Kore sub-tribe. Attained a standard 6 (Grade 8) at school. His first full time employment was a watch repairer.
Euphraim was an early member of the Tengenenge Sculpture Community and now lives in Harare. His early sculptures reflected much mysticism but in recent years works are more decorative and representational, but always reflect his own style.
Technically Euphraim is a very skilful artist; his sculptures are mainly subjects from nature, like hornbills, lions, scorpions, anteaters, buffaloes and horses. Like Henry Munyaradzi, he takes the menace out of them; they immediately appeal and one is drawn to touch or caress them. Euphraim carved beautiful majestic birds and he was able to bend the bird to form a horse. If you owned both you could see the likeness immediately.
Euphraim has participated in all Tengenenge exhibitions and many group exhibitions. An extremely fine Dendera” (ground hornbill) was sold to the Volkerkunde Museum in Frankfurt.
