Aaron Mariga was born on the 19th March
1978 in Mutare to a father who is one of the founding fathers of Shona
Stone Sculpture. Aaron took to sculpture the way a duck takes to water.
His elder brothers had already plunged into the same field and this
became his base of inspiration.
He was educated at Masiyarwa Primary and Secondary Schools. After completing his O-level, he had no problems choosing a career as his heart and mind was already set on the field of stone art.
He works mainly with Lepidolite, Opal, Springstone and Leopard rock. Private art collectors and galleries from home and abroad have bought a number of his pieces. Although he has not exhibited yet, he looks forward to doing so in the near future.
His special ambition is to excel in the art and help it to rise to higher heights.
