Onias attended his primary school at Mavhudzi School from 1985 to 1991. In 1992 he moved to Matsika where he completed his secondary education at Nyakuipa High School. Onias completed his O-Levels in 1995 and moved to Harare in 1997.
It was in Harare where Onias was encouraged by his uncle Richard Mupumha to start stone sculpture under his guidance. Onias started sculpting on his own in June 1999 and his sculptures has mainly sold in Germany, Britain, USA, Holland, Australia and South Africa.
At present his full-time profession is sculpting. Onias is trying by all means possible to diversify his work and keep the themes and ideas fresh. He has always faced problems in his work, such as lack of sufficient tools and stiff competition from older and more established artists. But despite these difficulties, there is no going back, and he is quite determined to succeed where others have failed.
